June 2008 - Presidents Message

South King County Puget Sound Anglers June 2008 Presidents Message by Frank Eshpeter

Our June meeting will feature our Vender extravaganza and swap meet we will have several venders to show use some of there newest and latest. We will have our swap meet starting at 5pm and our regular meeting and vendor event at 7pm. Matt Parnel will have the latest on the new rods and reels from Quantum.

Our May Guest speakers were Curtis Welch and Brian Lull from Special Moments Guide Service. Curtis has over 30 years fishing and hunting experience in the Pacific North West and Brian has a very well rounded fishing background. They told us about the latest in Lake Washington fishing opportunities. From where and when to go to what is the best methods to use in this close to home yet under fished body of water. http://www.specialmomentsguideservice.com/

Terry Wiest our derby chair has this year's event looking pretty good. We're really excited about the 7th Annual SKC PSA Salmon Derby to benefit Special Needs Kids and Washington CCA to be held on Saturday, August 2. The stars must be aligning and looking down upon us as with all the closures this year, our event happens to fall within all the openings! Commencement Bay and the mouth of the Puyallup will be open as will the Elliot Bay Inner Fishery! For this reason we've added a third weigh in station so you wont have to travel as far to get those salmon weighed in. This year's weigh in stations will be the Dock Street Marina in Tacoma, Seacrest Marina in Elliot Bay, and the Des Moines Marina. The prize ceremony and BBQ will be held at Des Moines.

Being part of the Northwest Salmon Series, you'll have a chance to win a new boat just by purchasing a ticket to our event. We'll also have a kid's derby section with first prize being a trip to Wild Waves for the winner plus a few of his or her friends. The Derby first place will once again be a $3,000 check

Donations are coming in but we're still looking for sponsors.

Look for posters soon and for your convenience we'll once again offer derby tickets on-line. You may also purchase tickets on-line even if you don't plan to fish the Derby, just to get another chance at that fantastic boat.

Steve Nelson has been working on some great member outings. His schedule of outings is growing and will soon have them posted on our web site.

Dan Berg Our Raffle master will have another full table for our "members only" raffle.

Bob Wigley our 4 star chef will have Bob's legendary Dog House in full operation so come early and have some good eats.

Come early, get in on our members only Raffle, Join PSA, have a DOG, and let's talk fishing, See You There.
